What a declaration is

A privacy block on a store page is the developer's account of what the app does with data, shown in a standard format. The stores print it before any install, which makes it the part of an app that can be read first.

MetaTrader 5 — Forex, Stocks — Google Play

Developer: MetaQuotes Software Corp.. The Data safety summary has 4 lines: “No data shared with third parties”; “This app may collect these data types” followed by “Personal info, Financial info and 3 others”; “Data is encrypted in transit”; “You can request that data be deleted”. The page links the developer's privacy policy on metaquotes.net.

MetaTrader 4 — App Store

Provider: MetaQuotes Software Corp.. The App Privacy label has 2 groups: “Data Linked to You” with 3 categories (Contact Info, User Content, Identifiers); “Data Not Linked to You” with 2 categories (Usage Data, Diagnostics).

Reading a declaration

The labels are re-read by the developer from time to time; the date on this page tells you which version of the label was read.

Differences between rows are shown, not explained; the stores' pages say nothing about why two listings differ, and neither does this one.

What they do not contain

A declaration lists categories, not retention periods or legal entities. The privacy policy that each page links to is the place for those, and it was not read for this site.

Listings that did not answer

Not every address read answered with a page. In the Pakistan view, the Google Play address for net.metaquotes.metatrader4 (answer: 404). A listing that does not answer is reported as not found in that view and is left out of the tables of figures; it says nothing about whether the app exists in another country or on another store.

Where each figure on this page comes from

net.metaquotes.metatrader4: not read or not found (404).

Reader questions

Before you tap install

Does the store check these declarations?

The Google Play page says the developer provided them; the App Store label says the developer indicated them.

What does “linked to you” mean?

The App Store wording: the data may be collected and linked to your identity.

Where is the privacy policy?

Each page links to the developer's policy; this site did not read it.

The trading account

A description is not a demonstration

What these pages read is the store's side: the listing. Opening a live account is a separate step with the broker, with identity checks and rules about sending money abroad that sit outside any app. Read the broker page before you decide, and do not trade with money you cannot afford to lose.
